HOLLYWOOD HELPS CELEBRATE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF L.A. GLBT PRIDE FESTIVAL IN PARIS HILTON, DANA DELANY, ROSE MCGOWAN, DEBORAH HARRY, DEBORAH GIBSON AND TIFFANY TO APPEAR |
West Hollywood, CA To celebrate 35 years of activism in Southern California, Christopher Street West (CSW), the states oldest gay & lesbian organization, confirmed today the appearance of Paris Hilton and others for the 2005 Los Angeles GLBT Pride Festival and Parade. Kathy Hilton and daughter Paris Hilton, best known for her role in the Fox reality show The Simple Life, will serve as the 2005 CSW Festival Grand Marshals. Both mother and daughter will be participating in the L.A. Pride Parade, again to be held in the City of West Hollywood on June 12. The parade will begin at 11am on the corner of Crescent Heights Boulevard and move westward down Santa Monica Boulevard. The 2005 CSW Celebrity Parade Grand Marshals will be Dana Delany and Rose McGowan. Ms. Delany is known to most as Colleen Murphy from ABCs hit China Beach, for which she earned two Emmys as Best Actress. She has recently been seen in critically-acclaimed guest performances on NBCs Law & Order: SVU and ABCs Boston Legal. Rose McGowan is known to audiences as Paige Matthews in the WBs Charmed. She most recently was featured in the CBS movie Elvis as Ann-Margret. Deborah Harry headlines this years CSW Festival with her performance on Saturday, June 11, on the Main Stage. As the lead singer of the punk rock group Blondie, Deborah Harry established herself as the leading female rock sex symbol with their succession of #1 U.S. hits such as Heart of Glass, Call Me, and The Tide Is High. Ms. Harry has also seen success with her solo singing career and as an actress. On Sunday, June 12, Deborah Gibson and Tiffany will perform. Deborah Gibson exploded on the pop music scene at the tender age of 16. She quickly became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a #1 single (Foolish Beat), a record which she still proudly holds to this day. Deborah has sold over 16 million albums worldwide to date. Her extraordinary career has garnered her #1 Billboard hits, Platinum albums, ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honors, sold-out audiences around the world and rave reviews for her starring roles on Broadway. Tiffany was 13 years old when her voice and determination landed her an audience with producers George Tobin and Brad Schmidt. Soon after, she was offered a contract with MCA Records and began work on her first album: the self titled debut, Tiffany. Overnight, Tiffany became a pop culture and teen icon featured in magazines, newspapers, and even on the The Tonight Show. Both "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Could've Been" were US #1 Billboard singles. "I Saw Him StandingThere," which hit the Top Ten, was also included on her 1987 debut album. Tiffany even managed to dethrone the King of pop, Michael Jackson, knocking him from the number one spot on the album charts to number 2. Also performing on the Main Stage at the festival will be Rose McGowan, of the WBs Charmed; Lady Bunny, with her Dusty Springfield-meets-Don-Rickles mix of potty-mouthed humor, Southern charm, zany Laugh-In-style skits, and X-rated pop song parodies; drag diva Momma; and MTVs Julie Brown.
