Went on Saturday June 9th. Parking at The Design Center was $20.00. Entrance fee was $20.00. Forty dollars right off the bat. Was smaller than the last time i was there a few years ago as a whole section was cut out. The DJ dance area where you first walk in was WAY too noisy, seemed louder than ever. Food seemed more expensive. Not much there. A real dud, and for the $40.00 spent, not worth it at all. Last time I'll attend.
Keep dreaming. It will be the same as every other year. Thai food on a stick, Bank of America booth, 80's pop. Bars will be packed and pricy. I'm going to Wonderland on Saturday (also overpriced, but something different) and the festival on sunday just because I live up the street. John Amaechi was a good choice for grand marshal of the parade though. Too bad Paris is in jail, we could have had her two years in a row to be proud of.
Gee I sure hope some of these people in charge come up with some new stuff, like: a BIGGER space for the carnival, better parade, better floats, get more clubs involved, stop raising the entrance fee, donate more of the profits back to the community. And why not real animals, like horses or elephants, lions, tigers, and bears....OH MY..... C'mon people we can do it...........
CSW works really, really hard on our parade. I just wonder why in the center of showbiz we don't have a float filled with orchids and set with thrones topped with Elton, David F, Ru-Paul, Judith Light, kd Lang, and other FOD's...followed by a FREE festival party for all supported by food and beverage sales and corporate (shudder) sponsorship--maybe not just WET and Trojan - kudos to them both, BTW...
