Well here is what people are saying about the New York City scene pulled from craigslist.com Man get over it already!!! Miichael Alig is gone, James St. James is wearing make-up on VHI specials and the rest of the club kids are now back in their mid western homes of Fargo ND, Witchita Kansas and Piedmont South Dakota raising kids with there secret of drugs, sex and alcohol in the past I hate when people say the club scene is dead. How is the NY club scene dead??? Ok so there are not as many drugs IN THE OPEN like before. The music is SITLL the same (but lets face it you can only make so many beats) But you can still party til 4-5-6-7-8- noon if you choose. You just have to know where to go. Hooking up still happens if thats your thing and because NY usually the 2nd or 3rd most vacationed in spot in the world you constantly have new faces. Have you been to other places in this country-- LA (the biggest dissapointed in cluc life history) for a city that claims they are better then NYC (even they all they have is weather- and yes not only have I libed there,I grew up there) The clubs close at 1:45 no alcohol after 1:30 only time there is something fun to do is on friday maybe maybe sat and all the clubs play top 40 stuff. Chicago- where I went to college at, clubs mnost close at 2 or 3 you can find 1 or 2 tha close at 4 and the music consist of top 40 so you JT and Usher not in mix mode. I have not been to Miami yet and San francisco (although a bueatiful city has NO i mean NO club scene what so ever. Not only is the New York Club scene still the best in the country but I do not see it as dead-- maybe you are just getting older and loosing intrest. Dude it's people like u that have ruined the club scene.. if u have to score in a club then ur night is over before it started. And straight ppl doin the shows?? are u kidding those drag q's are the same drag q's that been ny shows since the 90's... please get a clue and do not ruin this new spot.... this comes from a straight guy and believe me it's just as easy to get knocked out as is it is to score narcotics.... do us all a favor and please do not return. I've been in the club scene for years, and it sooo sucks pig dick now. All the kids from Jersey yucking it up and not able to handle their drugs. The worse part is the increase in the number of tweakers (meth users), they're aggressive, scary, disease ridden, and crazy-assmutherfuckers. There is no scene here in new york anymore, all the good DJ's moved to Europe (Germany, London, and Spain). It's not like back in the days with all the houses, the battles, the kooky people, the DJ's and live acts. NYC club scene is dead, and I don't think it's coming back for a while. The club scene is totally rocking dude. When you reach a certain age, you fall out of the loop of the hipper clubs. You guys are still talking house music, when in fact hiphop is now the music of the kids and reggae is the music of the underground scene. If you aren't into those two types of music, you need to buy a ticket to the Bruce Springsteen concert and take some ****** dude, you've turned a corner. Also, there is a common wisdom in the New York club and party scene. If there is even one South Asian there (especially East Indian) than a club is no longer cool. The South Asians take over after the yuppies and wannabees flood the place because they heard how hip it was in a NY TimeOut piece. (trust me, the inside crowd who makes clubs hot do *NOT* read NY Timeout!) I don't mean to slam East Indians, because I think east Indian chicks are totally hot! But they find out about the trendy spots late, and then they overwhelm it and then they can no longer have fun with non-East Indians once there are other Indians there observing them and sending word home to their communities that they were grinding with someone white/black/hispanic etc, so they stand around buying tons of drinks, not dancing, and talking in Hindi about marriage and skin color: BORING! If you see a Sikh going into you favorite bar or club, leave immediately. Dishoom! Dishoom! you dont know which club scene we are talking about. its you thats going to all the wrong clubs....stay there you herbatron.... ps. hip hop is commercial music. has not been underground for more than 15yrs. there are underground artists---but thats because they havent made it yet.

I think it is the internets fault. Lets be honest alot (I am not saying all or you but alot) of people go out to get laid. Prior to the internet they either had to go to a park call a 900 number-which was spendy i am sure or.....Go to a club. Well now they can stay at home and get laid takign away from clubs and I am sure 900 nmbers sales have gone down. Just my opinion though

Having moved here from NYC last year, and still keep up with the clubs there regularly through friends, it's kind of dull in NYC as well as compared to a few yearts ago. I agree with the previous comment, as Spike is only a shell of it's former self. The only decent afterhours it seems is Reflex, although they need to work on the temperature issues, as it get tpp damn hot on the dance floor.

I don't know New York but things here in L.A. right now have become limited and dull. There is no choice anymore. What they did to the Spike is awful, it's obvious they don't care. If they did they would bring back Church or at least have some incentive for us to go there. There seems to be nothing going on for late night dancing this Sat.(unless I missed something?) other than Factory's Black Party. There is no Probe anymore, no Palace parties every other week. I still like the Abbey and the Here, but that gets boring after a while.
