What started out as a simple meet-and-greet at the Chi Chi LaRue’s porn boutique, where Daniels was scheduled to sell #TeamStormy t-shirts from her online store, turned into a media feeding frenzy after the city announced an official press conference at 4pm, where West Hollywood Mayor John Duran would officially declare May 22, as Stormy Daniels Day (only in West Hollywood). The City was also giving her a key to the city in recognition of her leadership in the #RESIST movement.

cutiesHi Cuties,

For the past 10 months, Cuties has been open and many of you have come in and graced us with your support, your smiling faces and your presence. We couldn't be more thankful for everyone that has had the ability to come out and see us. We opened without a lot of money in the bank. We opened before our interior was done. We opened before our light fixtures were installed (they still aren't). We opened before our furniture had been built. We opened before we'd installed even one community tile on the wall.

Each year, the City of West Hollywood celebrates the artistic contributions of the LGBTQ community with its vibrant One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival. The festival runs for 40 days, from Harvey Milk Day on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 through Saturday, June 30, 2018, which marks the end of Pride month. A complete list of this year’s One City One Pride festival events is available at www.weho.org/pride.

With the theme of “I Remember,” this year’s One City One Pride festival celebrates the LGBTQ community’s shared history and the people and events that paved the way for the rights we hold dear today.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center has been awarded three grants totaling more than $1.5 million to expand its STOP Violence Program which has offered the nation’s largest and most comprehensive LGBT-specific domestic violence programs and services since 1996. The STOP Violence Program intervenes with family and domestic violence related crimes, crimes related to hate and bias violence (such as bullying, harassment, and discrimination), and other types of crime such as stalking, robbery, identity theft, cyber-crime, and human trafficking, among others.

I first met John in 1983 when I was a new lawyer and he was in law school. John contacted me about becoming my law clerk. My first impression was that he was very smart, articulate and had tons of energy. I soon also learned that he was caring, passionate and devoted to the people and causes that he cared about.

John clerked for me for six months, passed the State Bar and became an attorney working tirelessly to defend those who needed a voice.
