The City of West Hollywood has sworn-in John J. Duran as its new Mayor and John D’Amico as its new Mayor Pro Tempore. An Oath of Office ceremony was administered during the City of West Hollywood’s annual City Council Reorganization and Installation meeting, which took place this year on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 1OAK, located in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip.

“Welcome To Adelanto,” reads the sign that greets visitors who reach Adelanto, California, “The City With Unlimited Possibilities.”

But anyone who has had the misfortune of being held in or having visited the city’s most famous business — an immigrant detention facility — will tell you life’s possibilities are very limited: the detention center is no different from prison.

The California Democratic Party convention logo was clever—a brightly lit lighthouse about to be hit by a big wave in the darkest of night. “California: The Big Blue Beacon of Hope,” the banner said, a sentiment anticipating the predicted giant blue Democratic wave curling up in the distance, about to hit the country in a midterm electoral response to Donald Trump’s 2016 election and the chaos that has since ensued.

The prediction has merit. Democrats have been winning special elections and two unabashed progressives won primaries in the South on May 22.

Jazmina Saavedra, a Republican California woman who is currently running for Congress, confronted a trans woman who was using the ladies’ restroom in a Denny’s in Los Angeles and posted a video of the encounter on Facebook, reports Daily Beast.

Saavedra told the camera that she was attempting to use the women’s restroom when she realized that a trans woman occupied the stall.

Screen and stage star Ian McKellen has taken aim at Hollywood’s inclusion problems, asserting that “half of Hollywood is gay” but you’d never know it based on the dearth of LGBTQ projects being produced.

The 78-year-old actor, who’s the subject of the new documentary “McKellen: Playing the Part,” railed against the industry when recently asked by Time Out London what he thought of so few gay characters appearing in blockbusters.

In front of Chi Chi LaRue’s on Santa Monica Boulevard Wednesday afternoon, TV vans lined the street, slowing traffic, and a crowd of people filled the sidewalk. From camera crews with expensive equipment to onlookers holding their phones in the air, everyone was hoping for the same thing — a glimpse of Stormy Daniels.

At 4 p.m., in front of a poster of Daniels in black lingerie and a giant sign reading “#RESIST” in sparkly pink letters, West Hollywood Mayor John Duran and members of the West Hollywood City Council presented the porn actress turned political figure with the key to the city in recognition of her leadership in the resistance to the Trump administration.
