Join ROAR Resistance on the evening of Friday, July 12 in West Hollywood Park for Lights for Liberty, a community vigil to shine a light on the horrific abuses of the Trump administration in human detention camps.
ROAR is organizing this event with co-sponsors Hollywood NOW, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the Stonewall Democratic Club, and the Westside Democratic HQ.
In West Hollywood, we will be one of many, many regional and local communities and organizations taking a stand and voicing our belief that all human beings have a right to life, liberty and dignity. We believe that these fundamental rights are not negotiable and are willing to protect them.
People will begin arriving at 7:30 p.m. in West Hollywood Park (as well as at locations around the nation, including five sites where detention camps are held). Guest speakers will include West Hollywood Mayor John D’Amico; Councilmembers John Duran, John Heilman and Lauren Meister; Stonewall President Lester Aponte; Hollywood NOW President John Erickson and more.
At 9:00 p.m., we will join activists and advocates attending rallies at every detention camp, and in cities and towns around America, as a silent sea of candles light up the nation.
This moment has the opportunity to be a turning point in our nation’s history, a moment in which we can join together on July 12 to be on the right side of history.
The rally and vigil will be held in West Hollywood Park, in the paved area alongside San Vicente. Parking is available in the park’s five-story parking garage, with validation available at the park office. Please bring a flameless candle or flashlight.
