May 10, 2002, New York - The hardest working diva in New York clubland, Kevin Aviance, gives birth to the first single from his forthcoming CD. And, honey - children will listen.
Kevin Aviance has become as much an integral part of the fabric of life in New York as a ride on the subway, lox on a bagel, and the rockettes. And catching a performance of Sir Kevin Aviance can be, respectively, every bit as transporting, satisfying, and high-kicking. Currently, the towering queen of clubland is celebrating the release of his new single, "Alive" which will serve as a tasty teaser of the treats to come when Centaur Music puts out his full-length Emerge Records release, Entity later this year.
Aviance, who credits Boy George, Grace Jones, and David Bowie as major influences, has such a fascinating and commanding presence that one has to see him perform live to truly understand the phenomenon. Kevin is constantly requested to host events around the world, because the raw energy and glamorous atmosphere that he creates seem to "make" the night. Aviance has worked with celebrated dj's including Junior Vasquez, Victor Calderone, Basement Jaxx, Deep Dish, Francois Kevorkian, Danny Tenaglia, and Grammy Award-winners Peter Rauhofer and Hex Hector. With a fan base stretching from New York to Tokyo, Kevin has hosted events at legendary clubs around the world such as the former Sound Factory, Twilo, The Ministry of Sound, Roxy, Centro Fly, Arena, and Womb, and performed all over Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States.
"Alive" reached # 1 in Billboard's "Clubplay" charts. Mixes of "Alive" were completed by Victor Calderone, Tony Moran and Junior Vasquez and released in stores nationwide on April 30, 2002. Aviance will soon be hitting the road, touring to support "Alive," taking his brand of New York ferocity to clubs nationwide. Kevin is scheduled to perform for Los Angeles Gay Pride on Saturday June 22, 2002 at the LA Entertainment Center.
